Just some Thoughts on Things

Not too much going on today.  It rained a little here but not too badly.  The boys went outside for a little bit today to ride their bikes.  Chord just got a new bike because his old one was getting a little small on him.  Last year Jarod got a new one so I guess it was time for Chord to get a new one too :).

Well tomorrow is the Monthly meeting for the Moms Club® and that is when the President is going to announce she is stepping down.  Hopefully it will all go ok.

I still haven’t decided if I want to run for Secretary again or not.  I don’t think anyone else will want to do it LOL.  I mean last year I was the only one who ran for it so by default I got it LOL.  I really don’t mind doing the work.  I like taking the minutes and doing all those things!  Then again I like to play around on my computer too.  I learned a lot about computers by just playing around with them.  I could learn more I am sure if I took a class but I really have learned a lot by just playing around with them :).  I think I learn better that way.  Anyway I am getting off track here :). (I am good at that LOL.)  But like I said what I don’t like about it, is some of the drama.  I like my drama on TV not in real life LOL.

If I do run again and get it, it would be more experience I could put on a resume some day.  It will give me two years of experience instead of one and again I will learn more about computers I am sure :).  Maybe knowing what it will be like will have me more prepared for it this time.

The drawback is I really don’t like conflict.  I’d much rather be the peacemaker and I really don’t understand why some people get in such an uproar about the smallest things.  Why do some people have to jump down your throat and ask questions later?  I mean sometimes if people would just talk things through they would find that no harm was meant and maybe it was an honest to goodness mistake.  Instead we get the bickering and silliness and for me it just gets old quick.

Is it just me or are a lot of women like this?  Maybe that was why I was such a tomboy when I was growing up.  It’s no wonder I have only a select few of close female friends.  I do have other female friends too but I wouldn’t call them close.  I know there are a good many women that aren’t like this but man there seems to be a lot of women like that.  I am not saying I don’t have faults (don’t even think I could count them LOL) but man this is just something I am not used to and don’t like.  Am I the only one that feels this way?  Maybe I am just weird and seeing things wrong I don’t know.

So as you can see I really don’t know what to do.  I feel like I am caught between a rock and a hard place.  I love doing what I do for the most part in the MOMS Club but is it worth all the stress?  Should I just drop it and try to just enjoy being a member of the Club or should I try and stick it out and maybe get some insights and experience doing it?  These are just some questions I have been asking myself.  Any thoughts for me? LOL.

Maybe I should just wait and see if I get nominated.  I could just run if I wanted to but if I just wait to see if I get nominated I can at least see if anyone wants me to run again LOL.  Maybe no one will and then I won’t have to worry about it LOL.  I wouldn’t have any hard feelings LOL.  I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.  I just feel torn about what I should do.  I mean if I was working I would have to deal with people (I have in the past LOL) but do I want to do it voluntarily? LOL.

More of my Ramblings :).

Not too much going on today.  After how busy we have been I am ok with that LOL.  We just had Science Club with the MOMS Club® but that was in the afternoon so nothing too much.

Friday is the Monthly meeting for MOMS Club® and our President is stepping down.  Funny thing is she would only have three more months with elections coming up but I guess she is done.  She is also going to drop out of the club.  There have been some issues with her so maybe it’s the best thing right now.  So the AVP is going to take the President’s position and we will have to get a new AVP.

I am still deciding if I want to run again for this coming election.  Maybe I will wait and see if anyone nominates me LOL.  The job itself isn’t really all that hard for me and I like doing that part of it but there are other issues I am not sure if I want to keep dealing with or not. Maybe since I have been through it all already I will be more prepared for it.  The question is do I really want to or not?  It hasn’t been a total disaster or anything just certain things that have got me thinking.  Lets just put it this way.  Sometimes if feels like I am back in high school.  Make sense?  It’s not everyone just certain people.  What’s really weird is it’s people I have liked.  So I don’t know what to do right now.

Anyway on a different note.  Hubby has a job interview on Tuesday!!!  It’s for the rest stop (a state job).  He would just do like groundskeeper things which he is ok with and hey eventually he would get decent pay we would have good benefits.  It might start off as part-time or seasonal but we can make it through that.  From what he said if it’s like that he could still collect some of his unemployment.  Of course it would be less with what he would be making but it’s something right?!  He really hated the school thing and there was no guarantee he would be able to get a job afterwards so this is probably a good thing he is doing.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers about getting this job!

Without Further Ado

Here is the dress I wore last night to the MOMS Club® Banquet! I had to adjust the pics because it was really light. So hopefully they turned out ok. I didn't take my camera with me because it wouldn't fit in my purse. I hope the other mom's that were there will send me some pics that I can share here :D. I had such a great time last night and so glad I went!! It was wonderful!!! Ok now on to the two pics hubby took for me :D.

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Yesterday was such a busy day. I had a friend over to go over what we were going to do for Create and Play the next day (today). So we sat and chatted and had a good time. It was a good time. We were going to do a Father's Day craft with all the kids in MOMS Club. She had her two young kids over too and they all played together while my friend and I got to talk :D.

Later we went shopping. I had to pick up a few things for Create and Play and for the Formal dinner thing I am going to on the 21 for the MOMS Club. So we were out and about all day yesterday.

When we got home I was having trouble (still am) with my printer so I spent a lot of time trying to figure that out but I don't know what the deal is. So by the time I was done with that I was tired and ready for bed LOL. Maybe the printer will work it's self out or might have to get a new one ugh.

Today was Create and Play and it turned out really well. A lot of people came. We made a card (finger painting :D) and a frame from those big Popsicle sticks you can get at craft stores. It was all very cool! I know the boy's had a blast.

Oh and wanted to answer a question I had a while back from Julie (sorry forgot about it till now :P) with the Secretary position I am taking with the MOMS Club it is not a paid job it's voluntary. It's a Non-Profit group. I can still put it on my Resume though when and if ever I get a job! It will be some work but I think I will enjoy it and it will make me think a little LOL.

Hope everyone is having a great week. I know for me it has zoomed by!!!

Monday, June 9, 2008

Ugh. Yesterday I had such a headache all day so I didn't blog. Then today at about eight P.M. our electricity went out! So sorry I haven't gotten up pictures I promised. will try and get them up tomorrow.(hopefully)

Today I had Bible Study with the MOMS Club. We are studying Joel Osteen's book Become a Better You. We have read through two chapters and it's pretty uplifting. I think we will enjoy it! I love having our monthly Bible Studies. I really look forward to them every month. Great group of ladies :).

Also today we got our incentive check. So we went to a new bank because we didn't like our old one. LOL. And opened up a new account. Then We went to one place to see if I could find a dress for the MOMS Club Year End Banquet but that place didn't have a nice dress that I liked. So we went to Dillard's. Before going there my mom and I had looked all over for one at other places and there just wasn't any. So today we went to Dillard's and I found a dress finally!!! It was on sale too so even better. I still think I paid too much for it but hey originally it was $130 and I got it for $83 and some change. Normally I would never spend that much on any clothes LOL but this banquet is something I really wanted to go to. Hey maybe it will be an excuse for hubby to take me out to a nice place so I can wear it more than once right? LOL. All though I still feel guilty for buying it even though hubby doesn't care.

Well I hope to get up pics tomorrow but I am off here and off to bed I think. I hope everyone had a good day!!

Monday, June 2, 2008

Not much going on today. It was a nice day out so the boy's were outside much of the day. I just stayed home (I know amazing huh? LOL) and relaxed. Just got laundry around for tomorrows laundry day LOL. I am going to go early to meet a MOMS Club mom because I have to give her some money for the the end of year banquet we are going to have on the 21st of June. It's the anniversary for when that chapter of MOMS Club started (MOMS Club is an international club). It's a formal occasion so I am going to have to find a dress. Which is hard to find one that I like and one that is my size :(. Wish me luck on that one. I hope everyone is having a good day.

Thursday, May 8, 2008

Sorry I didn't blog yesterday. We had church and didn't get home till after 9 PM and I was too tired to get on an blog LOL. We are reading Romans in our class at church. We have been talking about the difference of living just under the law and living under Grace. I am really enjoying it.

Today was Create and Play with the MOMS Club. We made some homemade children hand castings for the craft. It's just using flour, salt and water. She is going to take them home to bake and paint them. I think they will turn out great! I can't wait to see them!

Later we went to Harlow's brother's house to just hang out. The boy's had fun playing with one of their cousins. Their other one was in preschool so she wasn't there but her younger brother was. They always have so much fun when we go there.

Afterwards we went to Burger King and got something to eat and went to the cemetery where Harlow's mom and dad are buried. They finally have a headstone up for them so I got to see it for the first time. We didn't stay long though because it was pretty chilly out. We will go again when it's nicer out. Maybe we'll bring some flowers to put out there too.

I didn't know Harlow's dad too well. I had met and talked with him before we were married and all but I didn't get to know him much. Harlow's mom though I did. I really do miss her. She really was like another mom to me. I could go and talk to her about anything and she would listen. If I miss her that much I can only imagine how much Harlow misses both his parents. That is something as a wife I can't take away the pain of losing them.

Ok I am done being sappy I guess. Tomorrow was supposed to be a Bible Study within the MOMS Club but that was postpone till the 16th now. Tomorrow the boy's have a Hula Hoop thing at Church to go to. There will be games and things there for the community! I think it will be a good time.

No plans as of yet for the weekend. Probably go to my mom's on Sunday for Mother's Day but that's about it. Things will probably change though. They always do LOL. I hope everyone is having a good week!

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Sorry no pics today. We had Church tonight and didn't get home till almost 10:30 PM so I didn't have time to upload any pics. I will be getting to bed soon too. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able too. The boy's have Science Club with the MOMS Club but that's not till 3:30 PM so I should be able to get them up sometime before that or sometime after that. Please forgive me lol.

Monday, February 11, 2008

I know, I know I have been MIA again LOL. It's been a busy four day's or so. Thursday we did Create and Play and it was a lot of fun! Kids even got to play in shaving cream LOL.

By the time all was said and done they were both covered in shaving cream LOL. I should have gotten a good picture of that LOL. Oh well I am sure we will have more fun with that another time LOL. The rest of the day just seemed to fly by and I didn't get a chance to blog.

Friday, We got our taxes back so we got a new Jeep! Ok well it's not new but new to us LOL. It's a 1998 not a 97' that I thought it was before LOL. It's really nice. I haven't had a chance to take a pic of it. Hopefully I can soon and show you all LOL. It had a crack in the windshield but that's about all that is wrong with it and we got the replaced today (Monday) So Friday was really busy with running around and getting the Jeep all legal. So again I didn't get a chance to blog.

Saturday, I went grocery shopping and then we went shopping. We got the boy's each a pair of new pants since they some how manage to get holes in their knees in a least two other pairs of pants LOL. Boy's I tell you (at least mine) are rough on pants and socks ugh! I also got some ink for my printer and some Valentines Day cards for the boy's for their Valentines Day party on Wednesday at a homeschool group. Later that night I also went through and ordered the boy's (well mostly Chord since Jarod will just use Chord's stuff from previous years) curriculum for next year. I forgot to get a couple of other things though so I will order the rest after we get what's coming.

Sunday, we went to Church of course and enjoyed the service. Not a lot of people were there though because of the really icy cold weather! Boy was it freezing out! After Church we went to lunch with one of our Pastor's and his family. We went to Tiffany's Pizza. We spent a couple hours just chatting with them. It was a good time. They had a couple of their teenage kids with them. They were really great kids too. The older teenage boy even included the boy's in the conversations and of course they talked about Lego's LOL. After that we came home and stayed in doors because of the cold weather LOL. Day's like that I wish we could just hibernate but then I have said that before LOL.

Today, we didn't do much either even though it wasn't as cold as it was yesterday it was still pretty cold. Harlow woke-up early to get the windshield replaced and then head to work. We did get schooling done though and I got stuff around for tomorrow since it is laundry day! Hubby is going to take us tomorrow though because it's supposed to be really icy tomorrow and he would rather drive us and I would feel better about it too I think. I have to meet a friend of mine there too because I have to return a Science experiment book to her. She has to use it for something she is doing with her daughters preschool or something.

So that is what I have been up to the last four day's. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Saturday,

Not too much to report today. I am in a better mood than I was yesterday though LOL. So that's good anyway. Why does it seem like Winter lasts forever? Anyway today was good ol' Laundry Day. Not many people were there. In fact when we first arrived no one was there till just about when our laundry was about done in the washer. Even afterwards there were only a few people there. That's ok though because it made the boy's doing their school work go that much faster and less distractions.

After we got back I had to run to the Library to take back some books and to pick-up a book for Create and Play on Thursday. So I am finally all set for that. Create and play is a week early this month because so much other stuff is being done within the MOMS Club. Next month will be back to normal I hope LOL.

I loved watching the boy's play today. They decided that in their little world they would have a bank and a store LOL. They had boxes set up like counters and everything LOL. It was just too cute!! I have a couple entrepreneurs LOL. It was just too cute to watch.

Tomorrow I have to take Jarod in for his check-up. That's at 10:45 a.m. The only thing Jarod doesn't like about it is getting his blood pressure taken LOL. Why I don't know but we shall see how it goes. He's all caught up in shots I believe so hopefully he won't need to get any. I really hate when they have to get them. probably as much if not more than they do. I believe he is all caught up though. So how was your day?

Sunday, February 3, 2008

Today we went to Church and had Communion and had a good service. We have been discussing since the new year about New beginnings and the Covenants of God. It was a good service. After Church we came home and hubby and the boy's went out to talk to hubby's one cousin (he has his own car shop place) about getting something done with the car before we sell it to his other cousin.

After they had come home we rested for a few and then were out the door. We went to Crafts 2000 because I had to get a few things for Thursday's Create and Play with the MOMS Club. We are going to do a Valentines Day theme. It took me a while but I figured out what craft we will do LOL. I think it will be fun for the kids. There will be painted hand prints and hearts LOL. It should be good.

Afterwards we went to Toys R Us and the boy's got some Lego Star War things and then we went to Bob Evans to eat. Boy was that a mistake (Bob Evans not the toys LOL) because the service was slow and I ended up not getting one of my sides because they took way too long. So we had to get that taken off our bill. I am the one who suggested going to Bob Evans too. Note to self: Don't go to Bob Evans on Super Bowl Sunday. LOL. So how was your Sunday?

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Today was pretty much a lazy day LOL. First day all week I haven't had to run around or go any where. Tomorrow is another day though. The MOMS Club that I am in is having an Open House at a Library at 9:30 a.m. It's to advertise our club and get more mom's to join if we can. I have been a part of the club since we had decided to homeschool our boy's. So since Chord had just turned five and Jarod was three. I love being a part of it. I originally joined because I couldn't find any local homeschool groups in my area and I wanted the boy's to be around other kids and they have made many friends through it and also I have made a lot of friends too. Something I really wasn't used to since I grew up and an Army brat and we moved around a lot. Even after my parents divorced when I was 15 I never got really close to anyone. Sure I had friends but none that was really close. With the MOMS club I have met and became good friends with a lot of other moms. Some have even decided to homeschool their own kids or at least thinking about it and others that don't homeschool don't judge me for homeschooling mine. Lots of good friends. So what started off for something for the boy's has done wonders for me also.

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

It was cold again today but thankfully I was able to go to the Laundromat to do laundry. No frozen water LOL. But when Hubby took the clothes out to the car last night he forgot to pack the backpack with the boy's school work in it and I didn't see it before we left. So we had to do school when we got back. So again we were a little off schedule. It wasn't bad but I really hate getting off our routine. I don't really have a strict routine and it's not like we have a routine for everything but with the routine we do have I don't like being off track. I do have to say though things went well for being off routine for the last two days.

Tomorrow is the rescheduled Create and Play with the MOMS Club that I and another mom is in charge of. It should be fun. I know the boy's will have fun. Hubby has been working overtime this week so seeing as we only have one vehicle the other mom that is also in charge of Create and Play is going to pick us up at 9:30 am. So I hope to get a little bit of school work done before going and finishing up when we get home. So once again our schedule will be off. I am just glad things are still running pretty smoothly even being off schedule.

Friday I don't have any plans so it will be a relaxing day. Hubby was thinking of going in pretty early on Friday at work so he can leave early. We shall see how that goes. Poor guy has been working a lot of overtime this week because his brother that works with him has had off for medical reasons. So he is pretty tired this week. I hope he gets some rest and sleep this weekend. What are your plans for the weekend?

Busy Few Days

I've been busy the last few days. Thursday was supposed to be Create and Play with MOMS Club but the other mom that does it with me one of her kids was sick so we ended up postponing it till this Thursday. That was ok with me though because I had a headache and didn't have anything to take for it. I kept forgetting to pick some up and hubby was already at work when I started to get the headache. (He works afternoons). So that's why I didn't post anything on Thursday because of my headache. Much better now.

Friday I had to run to the store and pick up a few things. This time I remembered to buy some Ibuprofen. After I got home I did dishes with Jarod's help and baked some brownies, with Chord's help, for me to bring over to a friends who I was hosting at her house a Discovery Toy's party for her. I left just after seven p.m. and didn't get home till after eleven p.m. It was a fun night but I was tired but still didn't get to bed till almost one a.m.

Saturday was grocery day so I got up drank some coffee and ate some breakfast and was off. Got everything we needed and came back home around eleven a.m. Then I had to leave again to meet some of the MOMS Club mom's to talk about a parenting book my one friend has called Love and Logic. I am learning that even before even hearing some of this book I have been parenting the boy's just like that. Maybe a little modified though. It's nice getting together with other mom's and discussing parenting. Learn something new and I am learning hubby and I aren't doing too badly. Then again I think most parents do the best they can and that's all we are doing.

Today was of course Church day. It was a good sermon as always and Chord really enjoyed the worship today. I loved watching him today just dance for the Lord. He was jumping around really getting into the music. He really loves worshiping the Lord. I think I could learn a lot from him. Instead of just standing there quietly worshiping I need to really enjoy being with the Lord and be so happy to have him in my presence and show Him my love for Him.

After church we came home and had lunch and I got the dishes done because I had let them go for a couple of day's from being so busy. So glad I got them done. I don't like leaving it that way. Felt a sense of accomplishment after that and then we went to my mom's and her fiances ' house. Hubby had changed the strings on my mom's fiances' guitar last week and so we returned it this week. It was a nice and relaxing time. I enjoy being around family. So what has everyone else been up to?

My Babblings

This weekend I didn't feel all that well. I didn't get the bug the boy's had but I just didn't feel well. I haven't felt well actually in a week but thankfully today I feel much better. Better than I have for a week anyway.

Today was a good day. It was busy too. Woke-up and got the boy's around and we had breakfast and got them around and we did some schooling and then it was off to the monthly Bible Study group we have that is one part of the MOMS Club that I am in. I so look forward to this each month because not only is it a great time to get together with my friends but I love sharing the Word with other women as well. I always feel at peace afterwards and refreshed.

After Bible study I came home and did the rest of schooling with the boy's and then spent some time with them. So I guess today wasn't too terribly busy but a little more so then usual. My friend was supposed to come by today too but she isn't feeling well either so she couldn't make it. That's ok though because it made me a little less busy than I would have.

Tomorrow is good old laundry day so it's off to the Laundromat. I got some of the boy's work packed in a backpack so they can do stuff there. This way we are not having to wait till we are done with laundry to do school work. They also keep busy doing it like this. My boy's seem to do better in the morning hours to do school rather than later in the day or night. I am the same way too though. That's one think I really do love about homeschooling because I can choose when to do it with the boy's. When I know they are at their optimum and that could be at any time during the day. My boy's tend to learn better in the morning hours. Who knows that might change as they get older. Ok I know this post was a lot of babble so please forgive me LOL.

A Good Day!

First I wanted to say I am finally able to see video's on line and was able to download adobe flash player! It wouldn't download in Internet Explorer so I downloaded Firefox Internet Browser and it let me in that! So I will be using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. I like it so far LOL. At least now I can see video's online now. So I am much happier now LOL.

Today was the monthly MOMS Club meeting so I wen to that today with the boy's and they had a good time playing with their friends. Me and a friend of mine were in the nursery while the meeting went along (We all rotate every month 2 moms in the nursery) But it wasn't too bad. Mostly the kids were well behaved with only a few minor incidents. I think I am a big kid at heart anyway so being in there with the little kids was fun for the most part LOL.

The boy's did all their school work before we went to the MOMS Club meeting so when we got home they got to play outside in the snow. It's been so cold lately so they hadn't been able to play out in it. It wasn't too bad at all this afternoon so we all went outside to play! We were in our drive way and I was looking at the pile of snow that was left after being plowed and thought it would make a cool cave. So We started and it turned out pretty cool. You can so tell the boy's are so different from each other LOL. Chord loved digging out the snow and making the tunnel where as Jarod started out liking it but quickly got board and went to find some action LOL. He didn't mind posing for a few pics. in front of the cave we made though LOL!! Here are some pics.

Chord building digging it.

This was it when it got deeper but it wasn't fully built till later (no pic for finished product LOL)

Boy's Posing LOL.

It was hard to get the boy's to come inside LOL. They were having so much fun building this cave and having snowball fights LOL. I think they had more fun in the snow then they did playing outside in the summer LOL. After building most of the cave we went in and I made them some hot chocolate and soon after they were out the door again playing in the snow LOL. I finally called them in for good at around four pm because it was starting to really get cold again. If I hadn't called them in I think they would have lived out there LOL. It was a good time by all though. I tell you what though I helped them dig out a lot of the snow and boy am I tired now LOL. I think I will sleep well tonight as well as the boy's LOL. I hope everyones day was as good as ours!

My Week Ahead and Being More Organized

Well the boy's didn't get to be in their play this weekend because we got a big snow storm that lasted from early morning hours of Sunday till late Sunday night so they canceled church services yesterday. So hopefully they will still do the play and do it this coming weekend. The boy's have worked so hard on their lines it would be sad to not see them get to perform them.

I can't believe just how much snow we got LOL. We went from almost all melted snow to a lot of snow. I will have to take a picture to show everyone LOL. So now that we've had our snow I am ready for summer again LOL. I am just so bad with cold weather. Makes me feel lazy, tired and really cold LOL. But I will get through it and it does look really pretty LOL!

For the local schools in our area were closed today. I let the boy's have a "snow day" too even though the last three they had already I haven't let them. I figured it was the first true "snow day." If it hadn't been so freezing out I would have let them out to play in it. But alas it was just too cold for any of us to go outside.

I was supposed to have a MOMS Club meeting today as well but since the schools were closed they canceled it till Wednesday. So at least I didn't have to run around today after all the running I did last week LOL.

Anne, I wanted to let you know I did buy me a planner LOL. Now let's see if I can remember to put things in it and look at it LOL. That is my New Years resolution LOL. I want to be more organized. I need to be more organized it really. I tell you I get what seems like ten million things that go through to my mind. Also unlike most people who can clean a room at a time in their house I can't seem to do that. I'll start off in one room and realize oh yeah I need to go do this and end up in a different room so it's like I never get anything truly done around the house. It's so easy for me to get distracted. It's almost like I have adult ADD LOL. I think I need to start listing for each room what I need to do and keep it in that room so I have it there to see exactly what needs to be done. This might keep me a little more on track. At least I hope.

Well tomorrow is good ol' laundry day. I got everything packed and ready to be put in the car. When hubby gets home he will put it in the car along with the boy's school work for tomorrow. At least I don't have to run around too much this week. Mostly just my normal stuff other than the MOMS Club meeting on Wednesday. So how was every one's weekend?

Socialization

"What about socialization?" It's the most asked question I get. Whether it is when I am out and about or being asked online. If you do a search on homeschooling you usually find someone wondering about this. This is such a common misconception of homeschooling. Schooling for lots of homeschoolers lasts only a few hours (depending how things go and how a person chooses to homeschool). This leaves lots of time for other things. It can be anything from just going outside to play even with the younger kids, doing things like going to the library and meeting other kids, joining a homeschool co-op, doing some volunteer community service. This also includes things like sports, and if the homeschool family is a Christian they could also be involved with their church. There are so many options out there for "socialization."

At the moment my boy's are not in any sports or clubs (other than the MOMS Club where they play with other children) because we can't afford it. With hubby losing his job at the end of April we just can't afford it. Hopefully he can find a job. (We are leaving it to God and hubby is looking). I would ask my mom because she has offered to help out with things if we asked her but she too may be losing her job. So I don't want to burden her with that. We will get through because God always seems to provide for us. I'll tell you a story about that another time because it would just be too long LOL.

Anyway I do take the boy's to the Library a lot and I am in the MOMS Club where they get to play with the other kids there. Then of course we take them to the park at times. Not only do I do that for them but I do take them with me when I go to the Laundromat and sometimes even grocery shopping. They are never too far from talking to someone. With them being homeschooled they get a lot of people talking to them, and asking about "school" and what not. So they are always talking or playing with someone of many different ages and cultures.

Another thing I hear a lot of people ask is what about diversity? I can honestly say my boy's have met a lot of people from different races and cultures. If they had been going to the school here, there really isn't much diversity. It's mostly a white school with maybe one of two that are not white. Just going to the Laundromat alone with me they see more diversity than they would in our school district.

Eventually I would like to have the boy's in something like Boy Scouts or martial arts. That is if they so choose to be in those things. It will be their decision ultimately. But right now we do ok how we are and I will continue to do the best for the boy's. I know I am not that good of a writer but hopefully this helps explain from my perspective of the socialization question.

My Rambblings

We had a good weekend. Saturday was my mom's birthday so we went to her house to be with her. It was a nice time of just being together as a family. We are blessed that our families combined (hubby's and mine) get along really well. So we don't have the rift between in laws like some families do. All though hubby's mom and dad have passed away I did get to know my MIL really well before she passed away.
My MIL was a strong willed woman and always said what she meant and never minced words LOL and I loved her for it. She was like another mom to me. Which is saying a lot since my mom is a great mom herself. I miss my MIL. She passed away in Nov. 14, 2002 of breast cancer that spread to her brain. She had her faults of course but all in all she was a good woman.
Anyway I got off track again LOL. I swear I do that all the time. It's like I have a million things going on in my head and they all get jumbled together and I just ramble LOL. So if I don't make any since you know why LOL. Just ignore me.
Sunday the boy's and I didn't do much because hubby had to go to his friends house again to help with something so he had the car. We only have one car so when one has it the other one can't really do much LOL.
Monday was a MOMS Club meeting and the boy's and I went. It was nice. We had a guest visitor and she was a Child Consultant. She basically deals with children who are having a hard time adjusting to day care, school, day care homes, child centers and registered relative care providers. Anyway a lot of what she was saying about children and some of their behaviors is what I have done with the boy's. Such as acknowledging good behaviors instead of only focusing on the bad ones. I have notice when I see the boy's doing something "good" and I compliment them on it. Like one time sitting through a long sermon at church and being very hungry. They at first whined and then they just sat still and I told them wow look how good you guy's are. They behaved through the whole thing after that. Not that I don't discipline when they act bad but I try to acknowledge when they are good as well. I have to say doing that has always done well for us because the boy's don't act out as much as they did when they were younger. There were other things that she said that we do at home too. So it made me feel good that I am doing well by the boy's. Not that "experts" always have the right answer but this one believed how I believed and I have see how it works with my boy's. I may not be a perfect parent but hubby and I must be doing something right because it shows through the boy's.
Today I just had to go to the Laundromat to do laundry like every Tuesday LOL. I got compliments again about the boy's by two different people. They both said they were so well behaved. I had them do some school work there but let them play around too. One of the ladies that gave me the compliment was an elderly woman. She was saying you don't see that much these day's. I am so proud of my boy's LOL. Can you tell? Ok I am done bragging LOL. My children aren't perfect (neither are hubby and I for that matter LOL) but they are good kids.
Tomorrow is a Halloween party with the MOMS Club that I am in. So I will taking the boy's there. I will get there early though to help out with getting it all together. The boy's get to dress up in their costumes so they will love that. Then it's off to Trick or Treating. So if I don't blog tomorrow you know why LOL. Hubby is taking the day off work to go with us too. Will be an eventful night to say the lest LOL.

Busy yet Again.

Saturday we went to Hubby's 2ND cousin's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception. They even had a video with pics of both families. See Hub's 2ND cousin is 57 years old. His first wife died in a crash many years ago. So this has been a long time coming. I thing he will have a wonderful marriage.
Anyway the boy's had a great time too. Especially when the music started LOL. They both went to the dance floor and got down LOL. C (my oldest) even met a little girl there. The little girl kept following him around. So I went to C and told him he should ask her to dance with him. So he did and he and the little girl danced LOL. Not slow dance of course, he is only seven years old LOL. They talked and danced most of the time we were there. It was just too cute. Once I put the pics in my laptop I will post the pics. Later I went to talk with C and he told me he was going to ask her to be his girlfriend LOL. But, later he said he was too nervous and it was time for us to go home LOL. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen LOL.
J. danced most of the night on his own or with his brother. He just loves to dance and talk to people LOL. I am surprised he didn't dance with anyone LOL. At my brother's wedding, a year ago, he danced with almost every girl there, especially with the teenage girls LOL.
Sunday we went to church and just spent time as a family. It was nice to just relax and be together as a family. I don't get on the computer much during the weekend because I try to just be with my family. Next weekend I might be on a little more because hubby is going to his friend's house to help him out with a film he is making for his school. (His friend is going to school to make films).
Today, was a really busy day. First I got up and got dressed and it was off to go to the dentist for my appointment cleaning. No, cavity's for me LOL. That's good because with C's fillings last month my mom actually paid our deductible and other things that weren't covered. We've just had a lot going on with fixing our car and insurance being due soon. So it's good I didn't have to get any fillings! Anyway after the dentist I had a mom from the MOMS Club come over so we can go over our crafts that we are going to do with all the kids in the club on Thursday (Create and Play). It's something her and I do together for the club kids to do crafts and sing song's and read some books. It's really fun for all the kids. I also enjoy reading and playing with the kids LOL.
