Well, I did something today I have never done before.  I know it's bad of me so please no yelling at me :P.  I voted today.  I know I should have been voting since the age of 18 but I am being honest and saying until today I have never voted.  Neither has my husband but he also voted today.

I won't say who I voted for because frankly I don't like talking politics with most people because people ( I am generalizing her) are very aggressive in their stance.

I do like to debate but only if it's a respectful debate.  My mom says she doesn't like to debate with me because I stay to calm and respectful LOL.  I just don't get emotional when it comes to debate.  Same thing when it comes to talking about my beliefs.  I honestly don't get in an uproar if someone doesn't believe the way I believe or are a totally different religion than I am.  I might not agree with them but I also know me yelling at them or telling them they are going to go to hell isn't going to do me any good either LOL.

Honestly I like hearing how other people feel about different things.  Especially if it's different than mine.  I also like to find how why they feel the way they feel.  What they have gone through to have the beliefs they do.  I find it all very interesting even if I don't agree with them at all.

I have friends from all walks of life.  Republicans, Democrats, Third Parties, Christian, many other different religions and non religious friends.  They all know my thoughts on things and respect me for them and neither they nor I try to convince the other they (or me) are wrong.  Because in the long run it wouldn't do any good.  They know I am open to talk about how I feel without being judgement to them and I know they are open to tell me why they feel the way they do without judging me.

I just wish more people were like that.  So many on both sides are so judgmental of each other.  I bet if no one talked politics these people might become friends.  Why let who you vote for get in the way?

Sorry I have rambled on.  It's just what has been on my mind lately.  I also have  a headache and that makes me ramble too LOL.  So I hope this post made sense LOL.  If it didn't blame it on my headache LOL.  I hope everyone had a good day!

The last presidential election is the first one I voted in (I wanted to make sure to get a vote in for Bush) ... I wanted to vote in 2000, but didn't get my card in in time. *lol*

I agree! We now have a new president and we need to pray for him and the cabinet members. It is time to show Christ's love within ourselves - that is being a light to the world. Great post.

I love that you are so open minded! What a great way to be. I am proud of you for not getting sucked in to creating contention. Great Job! What a great example you are setting for your kids!
