Planning your homeschool is a lot of fun, especially if you’re going to be trying something new. Just like finding a shiny new penny you’re excited to use it. Mother Dear has been planning some new curriculum for us, and I am plenty excited to get started on it. This week I hope you’ll share something new you’re using, why you’ve decided to use it, and if you have used it how you like it. Make sure to include the publishing information and where you got it from so others can look into if they like.
Hmm something new? Well all our Curriculum is pretty much all new. The only thing I didn't really change was their math curriculum which is Horizons Math and Jarod's Phonics which used to be Chord which is Saxon Phonic. The boys really do well with that math so we stick to it.
I guess I just haven't found the perfect things so we change a lot. This year we did get BJU Bible and English(for Chord) which I really like because it seems to go more in depth then other's I have seen.
They have also gotten a new Science Curriculum, God's Design For Life The Human Body . The boys are loving to learn about their bodies. Recently we learned some of the names of the bones and Jarod now loves to say with his fingers and toes moving (and a big smile on his face) these are my phalanges LOL. In the book it tells you a few examples to use for a song and one of the ones they thought was so funny was "Put your hand on your jaw to handible your mandible." They also liked that you call your skull the cranium. Ahh what amuses my boys LOL. So They are really loving this Science curriculum.
Not much else too exciting to tell you about. History is just reading lots of books which is also part of reading and I also have them read a book they choose from the Library. Writing I have them practice their handwriting. I have been getting most of our curriculum from www.rainbowresource.com. I am probably forgetting something here LOL but I wanted to get this out before we leave to go to church LOL. I hope I didn't bore you too much!!!
